Since the beginning of this year, we have had the honor to partner with the City of Walnut Creek, CA as part of the Startup in Residence program. Walnut Creek is a vibrant and growing community in the Contra Costa County, located in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area.
What really touched us from the very start of this partnership was the city's economic development staff's dedication to serve and grow the local community. Business Retention and Expansion is a critical component of every city's economic development mission; but with a small team, and over 4500+ businesses to support, the city needed a solution to scale their impact.
Instead of just another CRM, Bludot is built specifically for the unique needs of the public sector. It allows staff members across departments (business license, permits, planning, code enforcement, etc.) to all contribute. It is also built with business-facing designs, allowing business owners to also access the resources and benefit from the platform.
Since we launched at the City of Walnut Creek, we are already seeing the impact of Bludot becoming an integral part of their daily workflow. When a business calls, they look up the business's wall in Bludot and see the context of its past interactions. When the city has an initiative to offer succession planning support, they pull up the businesses that may benefit and proactively reach out. At their bi-weekly economic development team meetings, they use Bludot's dashboard to track their progress and discuss strategies.
We know that all the dedicated local government staff across the country deserve the best tools to do the work that matters. We know that when they are empowered to do their best work, whole communities benefit, that is you, me, everyone. And that is the kind of impact that we are passionate to pursue.
